Coffin and Casket Manufacturing Wood Types

Coffin manufacturing can also be listed as woodwork. Wood is available in many forms. In the coffin manufacturing industry, coffins are mostly made with chipboard, which is also called particle board or press wood.

The press wood, particle board or chipboard can be used as is or it can be stained and grained according to the method that you will be taught when you attend a Coffin and Casket Workshop.

Alternatively you can purchase the chipboard already coated with a mahogany, oak or walnut veneered face. The chipboard can also be bought in a veneered Ironwood, or any other imitation vinyl veneer.

Chipboard is the most versatile and easily worked with material than all other coffin and casket wood types. Shop around for your wood as prices can vary amongst suppliers considerably.
